BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Sardinia, Caterina Murino began a career as a model after winning fourth place in the Miss Italy competition in 1996. Aspiring to become an actress, she performed on stage from 1999 and made her debut on the small screen in 2002 , appearing notably in the series Don Matteo and in the television film Young Casanova .
In the credits of the Italian-Argentine film Nowhere (2002), Caterina Murino won her first important role, that of Léa, in the French comedy L’Enquête corse (2004) adapted from the famous comic strip by Pétillon . Under the spell of the beautiful Italian woman, her partner Christian Clavier engages her in the crazy adventure of Bronzés 3 friends for life . In the meantime, the actress managed to turn the heads of cops Pascal Elbé and Jean Dujardin in L’Amour aux trousses (2005).
Not stopping there, she attempted an international career, landing the role of James Bond girl Solange Dimitrios in Casino Royale (2006) by Martin Campbell . Returning to her native land, she filmed Ciao Stefano (2008) by Gianni Zanasi , then appeared the same year in Le Grand alibi by Pascal Bonitzer and Made in Italy by Stéphane Giusti .
In 2008, the actress expanded her international career as she appeared in the cast of the co-production XIII alongside Stephen Dorff . With short hair and piercings, she plays Sam, a young girl who comes to the aid of the mythical character imagined by Jean Van Hamme . While filming for Anglo-Saxon productions, Caterina Murino does not forget France, displaying a certain predisposition for thrillers like Comme les 5 Fingers de la Main by Alexandre Arcady in 2010 or La Proie d’ Eric Valette the following year. The actress also tries her hand at dubbing for the animated film The Pirates! Good for Nothing, Bad in Everything by Peter Lord in 2012.
The years that followed were more marked by experiences on television for the Italian actress both in France and abroad. She notably reprises her role in XIII , now available in a series of several episodes, and returns to Italy to film in the detective seriesZen in which she opposite British actor Rufus Sewell . Concerning French series, she embodies the role of Athena in the ambitious Odysseus series adapted from Homer ‘s “The Odyssey” as well as an Italian in New York in several episodes of Luc Besson ‘s production , Taxi Brooklyn .
In 2015, the actress returned to cinema with the thriller Antigang by Benjamin Rocher in which she reunited with Jean Reno , eleven years after L’Enquête Corse . The actress also returns to her land in Italy to shoot the thriller Voice from the Stone directed by Eric D. Howell and in which she plays in English opposite one of the female stars of the Game of Thrones series , Emilia Clarke .
